All right. Let me say something first… I’d like to keep this post short so please bear with me if you’re hungry for something to read. Ready for the post? Here we go.

Tips to a More Effective Sales Page

I’m sorry to say this but I have seen enough “bad” sales pages for the last 24 hours and definitely would not want to see even more! There was one thing that struck me though, and that is the really unique sales page that I’m going to share with you. Some of you had probably seen this already, but it doesn’t hurt to take a look again and get some inspiration, right? :)

This is the page that I am talking about: http://www.youreapoorloser.com/
(Disclaimer: I am NOT, in any way, affiliated with that website.)

As you can see, the page is unique. Although it’s full of insults and such (sort of), it urges the visitor to take an action and purchase whatever the owner is selling. It is not one of those sites that is full of fluff and words that has obviously no purpose but to get you to buy the product.

I will not discuss the sample sales page’s characteristics and whatsoever in detail anymore as I am running out of time. Instead, I will just give you simple yet brilliant tips to a more effective sales page.

Make it unique. As you can see from the example above, the maker of the page was really into making it unique. Instead of using an expensive and elegant design, he decided to use the power of… colored markers! Perhaps you can come up with a better idea.

Always be sure that your visitors can understand what you’re saying. Let’s face it. Some internet marketers like using jargon just to impress their visitors. What do I have to say about that? It’s a big no-no especially if the words you are using are not understandable by your prospects! If it’s like there’s an alien speaking to them, then your purpose of having a sales page is defeated. Remember, your goal here is to communicate with them and convince them to buy your product — not to boast how much jargon you know.

Don’t overdo anything. We tend to overdo things. A lot. And this just won’t work if you ever want to generate a good amount of sales from your page. Imagine if you had a “Buy Now!” button after every paragraph. Yes, your visitor will be aware that it’s the right time to buy it, but they would be getting the idea that you’re desperate to sell something.

Always have a call-to-action. This is one thing that you should never forget. A call-to-action. Yes, you may be able to convince your visitors that your product is the bomb (heh), but if they don’t see anything that will ask them to purchase now, then most likely they wouldn’t bother. Don’t expect them to e-mail or even call you just to ask how they could buy your product.

A great design always works wonders. While our example above has quite a bad design, well, I have to say that a great design can do the job for you. Sometimes, people are so enticed by the looks of the site that they click the buy button without reading. I don’t know why, but I know someone who did this (buying without reading) before!

Don’t put testimonials that are obviously made up. This is the major thing that I hate about some marketers — they make up testimonials just to produce sales. You know, it’s quite obvious to your fellow marketers if you create your own testimonials, so if you ever want to gain respect from them, then do NOT put fake testimonials. While some of your viewers may not notice, it’s still morally incorrect to do it, so for ethics’ sake… please!

Do you have any other tips to a more effective sales page? If so, please share them with everyone!

Saturday Link Bits

I apologize if you were expecting another post for the link bits. Sadly, I had to include it here because two posts in a day just doesn’t sound that great to me (yet).

Here are the blog posts that I found either interesting, informative, or even both!

Static from ahnternet gives us reasons why we should have a niche. Trust me, this post is sort of an eye-opener, especially if you’re new to internet marketing. Check it out, it’s worth the read.

Gyutae from Winning the Web shares 7 ways to find the right products to review on our blogs. I found Gyutae’s post interesting because he had some examples to help us further understand what he wrote.

Desmond from DesmondBlog tells us the things on which we have to spend on before selling a website. Honestly, when I flip websites, I don’t usually spend for the logos and such things that Desmond mentioned. I have to admit though, that what he posted are pretty reasonable!

Static (again) from BloggersWalk gives a strong argument that efficient bloggers save time and money. No, I’m not trying to play favorites here by giving Static two links, but it’s just that his posts are really awesome. :)

Joe from IM with Joe says that we should choose the right friends/network if we want to attain success. I had to agree with him, especially when he said that if your friends are negative-minded, then no doubt that you too would be! Be sure to watch his video…

“Don’t overdo anything.” This is true. I am currently doing affiliate marketing of webhosting plans, one technique there is to write reviews. But if you write purely positive and obviously biased reviews then! You will get nothing from visitors… only doubts… “is this review trustworthy?” something like that!

Just be yourself. People respond really well when they feel they can really trust the person who is selling the product. So on your sales pages just be yourself and tell the truth. People will love you for it.
Also overdeliver on your promises. Make smaller promises and then over deliver on them, this will keep your customer coming back and will also promote word of mouth. Give them hidden freebies or bonuses, or discounts. This is 100 times better than over promising and under delivering
