This is going round the net like wildfire right now, but the error (on Google’s part) has been fixed. For about an hour all search results from google were coming up with the warning that “this site may harm your computer”. Google has now come up with an official explanation - it seems the error was caused by filtering sites with a “/” as malware.

What I find amusing is when you take a look at google hot trends (google.com/trends), the search phrase “warning visiting this web site may harm your computer!” is on fire, with a massive jump in searches:
Volume Of Searches For “warning visiting this web site may harm your computer”

This is a complete screw up not only for Google’s obvious PR damage, but because a lot of people are going to see this and think their computer was hacked and infected with malware. Considering the millions of not-so-net-savy people that use google every day, I’d imagine this has caused a lot of worry with people and time wasted checking if there’s something wrong with their computer.

I too had noticed this, and knew something was fishy
darn. if i’d only registered warning-visiting-this-web-site-may-harm-your-computer.com i’d be golden now. - Stephen
@ Stephen - that’s what I was thinking. There were literally millions of searches for that term in that half an hour period or so, and that phrase is so long tail it wouldn’t be that hard to rank for it.
